Tanner Dance's mission is to cultivate imaginative, worthwhile individuals who contribute meaningfully to their communities.
From high quality productions to individualized attention in class, Tanner Dance nurtures a deep appreciation for dance, music, literature, theatre, and the visual arts. Uniquely positioned within a university setting, it also functions as a teacher-training lab for university students and teachers in dance education, educational studies, special education, health, science, and physical education.
Founded by Virginia Tanner in 1949, the University of Utah Tanner Dance Program has become an internationally recognized leader in dance and arts education. Tanner Dance serves more than 37,000 individuals annually through its seven unique programs: The Virginia Tanner Studio Program, The Children's Dance Theatre, the Contemporary Companies, the LEADD and Elevate programs for adults with disabilities, the Arts-in-Education outreach program in Utah schools, the Fine Arts Preschool, and the French Immersion Program. Each program offers something unique for its participants and cultivates creativity.
During this campus wide initiative of "Welcome U", Tanner Dance invites you to make a gift in support of its varous companies and outreach education programs. You can support a program you're passionate about - like the Adaptive Needs programs, the scholarship fund, or the Arts-in-Education program - or give to the Area of Greatest Need. Gifts support all aspects of programming and ensure the financial infrastructure to continue empowering all students in dance and the arts.
Your gift has the ability to ignite imagination and fuel creative growth for all students, teachers, and the broader community of Tanner Dance.
